Organized and run by the high school Drama teachers of both the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic Board of Education. The mandate of this event is to encourage and promote the varied interests and abilities of Calgary’s high school Drama students. While the Festival provides, in many ways, an enhancement of the secondary drama curriculum, its scope reminds us that educational drama is much more than “putting on a school play.”
The festival provides a dynamic opportunity for students to see the work of other schools in the city, to interact with other drama students, to discover the myriad of professions within the Drama community, and to learn from the professional insight offered by the adjudications of the Studio productions. They have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of workshops taught by local theatre professionals, reinforcing and enhancing the classroom work done at the high school level. |
